Three star Michelin restaurant Manresa in Los Gatos

Yesterday was a good day. After two months of living in California, I realized that there actually exist fine dining restaurants in Silicon Valley. The day after we moved here, my husband and I tried out the Michelin starred restaurant, Chez TJ, in the city of Mountain View, where we actually came to live after temporary housing was up. Coming from Denmark, which is really a leader on the gastronomy scene, I was somewhat disappointed. I mean, the food was good, but flavor wise it just did not live up to my previous experiences.

Manresa on the other hand was, though quite expensive (ended up with a 2k USD bill) really good. From the snacks leading the meal, over the sea animal savory dishes and the more land animal style dishes to the cheeses and dessert (finally a restaurant that does not serve 3 or more sweet dishes) it was all really good, and with exciting and different flavors.

My absolute favorite dish was the garden style dish, which is also pictured in the top. It was a combination of greens, herbs, but also important flavor attributers. Often, with these garden dishes, I feel that they lack something that combines the dish into a flavor bomb, instead of "just" delicate aromas. This dish was awesome!

This restaurant definitely lived up to my expectations and was a great place to celebrate passing the written part of our state license test (and by coincidence our 5 months anniversary). Of course you could always find something to complain about (like the wait before we received any food, the weird/different taste in one of the dishes etc.) but as it was all made up by the fantastic food, I would like to focus on the positive here. And that is finding a nice restaurant with pleasent service, resembling the experiences I am used to from Denmark.
