Napa Valley - is it overrated?

The short answer - No, I definitely do not think so. This being my first time to Napa Valley, dining at the 3 star Michelin Restaurant at Meadowood, the sky clearing up after weeks of heavy, unhealthy wildfire smoke, the first vacation with my husband after moving across the Atlantic, my opinion might be somewhat colored by this.

Some might think that this place is expensive and pretentious, but I actually got the feeling of relaxation and joyfulness staying here for a couple of days. We stayed at the Harvest Inn, which is right next to the vineyards, as seen from the picture above. This place was nice, friendly and relaxed, though their breakfast, lobby bar, house wine etc. left much room for improvement. But the rooms and surroundings made up for this. Just don't dine there. Harvest Inn is located close to downtown St. Helena, which is a nice little city.

Unfortunately, we did not have the chance to visit any wineries this time around, which might change my impression of Napa. Time will tell. All I can say is that leaving Napa Valley on Thanksgiving day with a clear sky and the autumn colors everywhere really made me fall in love with the place.
